The planetary scientist said he feels 'despair' about the distances and speeds involved in space travel and, in part, made the animation 'to make everyone else feel as bad as me.'.O'Donoghue's animation shows it'd take nearly 10 seconds to reach Pluto, and 18 hours to reach the nearest star, at close to maximum warp speed.
He posted his video on Twitter on Monday. In 'Star Trek,' a warp factor of 1 is light speed, and a warp factor of 9.9 is more than 2,000 times greater than light speed.
